Microneedling
A results-driven skin rejuvenation treatment designed to stimulate natural collagen production and improve the appearance of acne scarring, fine lines, uneven texture and enlarged pores. Microneedling encourages your skin's natural renewal process, helping reveal a smoother, firmer and more refined complexion over time.
Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that works with your body's natural healing mechanisms to improve the appearance and overall quality of your skin.
Using a specialized device equipped with fine, sterile needles, controlled microchannels are created within the skin. These tiny, intentional injuries activate the body's wound-healing response, encouraging the production and remodeling of collagen and elastin — two essential proteins responsible for maintaining skin structure, firmness and elasticity.
Rather than simply treating the surface, microneedling works by stimulating the skin's natural renewal processes from within.

Why Does Collagen Matter?
Collagen and elastin are essential structural components of healthy skin.
Collagen provides structural support, firmness and strength while elastin helps skin stretch and return to its original shape. Fibroblasts are cells within the dermis that produce collagen, elastin and other components of the skin's supporting structure. As we age, collagen production and skin repair processes naturally change. Environmental exposure, sun damage and other factors can also contribute to visible changes in skin texture and firmness. Microneedling helps stimulate the skin's natural repair mechanisms to support collagen remodeling and improve overall skin quality.
A little reminder: Microneedling isn't about forcing your skin to change overnight. It's about encouraging your body's own repair processes to support healthier-looking, smoother skin over time.

Precision, backed by professional standards.
At Gemini Beauty Clinic, we use the Dr. Pen A20, a professional microneedling system listed with Health Canada as a Class II medical device (Licence No. 114618).
Designed for controlled and customizable microneedling, the A20 uses precision needle technology to create controlled microchannels in the skin, stimulating its natural renewal response. Treatment depth and technique are carefully selected based on your skin's condition, the area being treated and your individual goals.
Because your skin deserves more than a one-size-fits-all approach. Every detail, from the technology we use to the products incorporated into your treatment, is thoughtfully considered.
The Technology Behind Your Treatment
Microneedling can help improve the appearance of:
Not all microneedling treatments are created equally. At Gemini Beauty Clinic, we believe the details matter — which is why we incorporate PDRN into our microneedling experience.
PDRN, short for Polydeoxyribonucleotide, is a DNA-derived ingredient that has gained attention in aesthetic skincare for its potential role in supporting skin repair and regeneration. It is studied for its involvement in cellular repair pathways and its ability to support the skin's natural healing processes.
During your treatment, PDRN is incorporated alongside microneedling as part of a more comprehensive approach to skin rejuvenation. While microneedling works by creating controlled microchannels that stimulate the skin's natural renewal response, PDRN adds an additional skin-supportive element to the treatment.
It's about being intentional with every step. We don't believe in simply performing a treatment and sending you on your way. We focus on combining professional techniques with thoughtfully selected ingredients to create an experience that puts your skin's needs first.
Meet PDRN: The Added Touch in Your Treatment

Prepare Your Skin
Everything you need to know before your visit to ensure you get the most out of your treatment.
-
Discontinue retinol, prescription retinoids, exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA), benzoyl peroxide and physical exfoliants for 5–7 days before treatment, unless otherwise directed.
-
Avoid tanning, intentional sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 1–2 weeks before your appointment. Skin must not be sunburned, irritated or recently tanned.
-
Avoid facial waxing, threading, depilatory creams and other aggressive hair-removal treatments for at least 5–7 days before your appointment.
-
Please arrive with clean skin and minimal or no makeup. This allows for proper cleansing and preparation before treatment.
-
Inform your provider of any medications, allergies, skin sensitivities, active acne, cold sores, recent procedures or changes in your health. Please disclose any history of cold sores, as microneedling may trigger an outbreak.
-
Microneedling cannot be performed over active skin infections, cold sores, open wounds, sunburn or significant skin irritation. Your skin will be assessed before proceeding.
-
Maintain your usual hydration routine and avoid excessive alcohol consumption the day before your appointment.
-
Do not discontinue prescribed medications without consulting your prescribing healthcare professional. Certain medications and medical conditions may affect your suitability for treatment.
Protect Your Results
Your skin has undergone a controlled rejuvenation process and requires gentle care while it recovers. Following these instructions is essential to supporting your skin barrier, minimizing irritation and optimizing your results.
-
For the first 5–7 days, use only gentle, non-irritating approved skincare. Focus on a mild cleanser, hydrating products and a barrier-supporting moisturizer.
-
Avoid retinol, vitamin C, exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA), benzoyl peroxide, scrubs and other active ingredients for at least 5–7 days or until your skin has fully recovered and your provider advises you to resume them.
-
Allow your skin to recover before applying makeup. Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours following treatment. It is recommended to avoid makeup for 3-5 days post treatment.
-
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning while your skin heals. 48 hours following treatment, apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30-50.
-
For at least 48 hours, avoid intense exercise, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and activities that cause excessive sweating or heat exposure.
-
Avoid touching, rubbing, scratching or picking at your skin. Do not exfoliate or attempt to remove any flaking or peeling skin. Replace your dirty pillow cases and towels for fresh ones following treatment.
-
Use a gentle, hydrating moisturizer and drink plenty of water. Supporting your skin's moisture barrier is important throughout the healing process.
-
Avoid additional facials, chemical peels, dermaplaning, laser treatments and other exfoliating procedures until your skin has fully recovered and your provider has cleared you.

-
Most clients find the treatment very tolerable. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand to minimize discomfort. You may feel mild pressure, vibration or a scratching sensation during the procedure, but significant discomfort is not expected.
-
Appointments typically take approximately 45-60 minutes, including skin preparation, topical numbing and the microneedling procedure itself.
-
This depends on your skin concerns and desired results. Many clients benefit from a series of 3–6 treatments, spaced approximately 4–6 weeks apart. More superficial concerns may require fewer sessions, while deeper acne scarring may require a longer treatment plan.
-
You may notice an improvement in your skin's overall appearance once the initial healing period has passed. However, collagen production and remodeling take time. More noticeable improvements typically develop over 4–12 weeks and continue with subsequent treatments.
-
Most clients experience redness similar to a mild sunburn for approximately 24–72 hours. Mild dryness, tightness, sensitivity or flaking may continue for several days. Most clients return to their regular activities within 1–2 days, although individual recovery varies.
-
Microneedling can be suitable for many different skin types and tones. However, it is not appropriate for everyone. Active skin infections, cold sores, certain inflammatory skin conditions, impaired wound healing and some medications may make treatment unsuitable. A consultation and skin assessment are important before proceeding.
-
Certain treatments can complement microneedling like Dermaplaning. Chemical peels, laser treatments and other resurfacing procedures may need to be spaced appropriately to allow your skin to recover.
-
When performed by a properly trained professional using sterile, single-use needles and appropriate infection-control practices, microneedling is generally well tolerated. Temporary redness, swelling and sensitivity are expected. As with any skin procedure, there are potential risks, which will be discussed during your consultation.
